Blog Hiatus: Lot's of Big Happenings Create Wait

Hi everyone:

Well, I am taking a hiatus on posting to this blog while I move. There's been a lot happening and I don't want you to think I've dropped off the face of the earth. I'll be back with new stuff after I am settled.

Above is a pic of my new bedroom. Yes, with fireplace.

Bill Moyers & Scholars: Impeachment

TOUGH TALK ON IMPEACHMENT: BILL MOYERS JOURNAL explores the talk of impeachment with Constitutional scholar Bruce Fein, who wrote the first article of impeachment against President Bill Clinton, and THE NATION's John Nichols, author of THE GENIUS OF IMPEACHMENT.

A public opinion poll from the American Research Group recently reported that more than four in ten Americans — 45% — favor impeachment hearings for President Bush and more than half — 54% — favored impeachment for Vice President Cheney.

Unhappiness about the war in Iraq isn't the only cause of the unsettled feelings of the electorate. Recent events like President Bush's pardoning of Scooter Libby, the refusal of Vice President Cheney's office to surrender emails under subpoena to Congress and the President's prohibition of testimony of former White House counsel Harriet E. Miers in front of the House Judiciary Committee have caused unease over claims of "executive privilege." In addition, many of the White House anti-terror initiatives and procedures — from the status of "enemy combatants" in Guantanamo to warrantless wiretapping — have come under legal scrutiny in Congress and the courts.

Bill Moyers gets perspective on the role of impeachment in American political life from Constitutional scholar Bruce Fein, who wrote the first article of impeachment against President Bill Clinton, and THE NATION's John Nichols, author of THE GENIUS OF IMPEACHMENT.

"The founding fathers expected an executive who tried to overreach and expected the executive would be hampered and curtailed by the legislative branch... They [Congress] have basically renounced — walked away from their responsibility to oversee and check." — Bruce Fein

"On January 20th, 2009, if George Bush and Dick Cheney are not appropriately held to account this Administration will hand off a toolbox with more powers than any President has ever had, more powers than the founders could have imagined. And that box may be handed to Hillary Clinton or it may be handed to Mitt Romney or Barack Obama or someone else. But whoever gets it, one of the things we know about power is that people don't give away the tools." — John Nichols

The Guardian: See This Video

For those of you who still support Bush and his administration on the Iraq war or believe that the so-called "surge" was valid or necessary at any level, I offer the following:

Video: Inside the surge

The Guardian's award-winning photographer and filmmaker Sean Smith spent two months embedded with US troops in Baghdad and Anbar province. His harrowing documentary exposes the exhaustion and disillusionment of the US soldiers.

Michael Moore and Bill Moyers: Please Make A Documentary Targeting Mainstream Media

It would be my dream to one day see a film collaboration between Michael Moore and Bill Moyers documenting how mainstream media utterly failed to provide impartial and credible reporting during the Bush Administration and the harm it has caused to Americans and around the world.

I maintain my belief that had America had a functioning and free media Bu$hCo and the neocons would NEVER have taken over. It's media's profit motive and media consolidation at work in betraying us all.

Michael: You could change the world and protect its citizens forever more if one of your documentaries resulted in transforming mainstream media in the United States.

Michael Moore SPANKS Wolf Blitzer at CNN

My girlfriend Gayle (an amazing handbag designer) and I saw SiCKO this past weekend at the theatre. WOW. You absolutely HAVE to see it. It'll be uncomfortable, it'll make you laugh and it'll make you cry. But this is your America and you need to be informed.

Please, please, please watch Michael bitchslap Wolfie:

Ha! Take that you asshole!

That's right you fucking prick, APOLIGIZE to me and the rest of America for LYING to us and feeding republican talking points instead of LEGITIMATE and independent news! You haven't one shred of credibility remaining for any thinking American.

Whew! What a refreshing tongue lashing, I feel so much better now!

(7-11-07 UPDATE: Check out the incomparable Michael Moore at his website where you can find out more about this evolving situation, his debunking of Sanjay Gupta's erroneous reporting, his live appearance with Sanjay Gupta on Larry King Live, etc.)

Keith Olbermann: Speaking The Words In My Soul...

My friend, if you do nothing else, please watch the below "Special Comment" from Keith Olbermann's Countdown on MSNBC. It's only 10 minutes out of your life, but Keith has so eloquently spoken the feelings in my heart, he can tell you how I feel better than my feeble attempts below.

The real fun begins around 5 minutes in.

(Hey Keith, you there? You still single? I have fallen in love with your brain (and you're a cutie too). I want to explore its depths. Check out my pic over there on the right column - not bad eh? What do you say.. wanna go out? Maybe have a cup of coffee? Discuss some politics? Rant and rave together? -- HEY don't sign off yet, give me a chance! I am not a weirdo, I am a realy nice person... hey Keith, Keith, you still there?)

Judge Walton: Issues New Order in Libby Case

The rightwing media/spin machine has been working overtime to frame the Libby commutation as "...despite no jail time, Libby still faces serious penalties including a $250,000 fine and two years probation."

However, Bush and his cronies are so incompetent that they even fucked up the Grant of Executive Clemency.

It appears that the fine and probation can only occur FOLLOWING INCARCERATION. What does that mean? It means that Libby skates scott-free.

The money quote at footnote 1 on page two:

"If either party believes that it would be helpful to solicit clarification from the White House regarding the President's position on the proper interpretation of Section 3583 in light of his Grant of Executive Clemency, they are encouraged to do so."

Shella: Still Steaming Mad, HELP!

Still filled with anger and frustration. It might just be the last straw for me.

I called the White House to register my feelings on this one (I believe the word "criminal" was used a time or two); I also called my Congressperson to let my feelings be known and hopefully guide her actions.

Still steaming mad and can't quite wrap my head around Bush's actions. What a contemptible human being, what a corrupt administration. We law abiding citizens and legislators wilt in the face of their audacity, megalomania, disregard and contempt for the majority. Unchecked power and a scorch and burn strategy with only 18 months left - mark my words on this 3rd Day of July 2007 - we will see this kind of thing again and again before January 10th 2009 when Bush leaves office.

It is so astonishing to actually be living in a time in history where our entire county has been hijacked by this gang of neoconservative ideologues. Headed by the most inept President/puppet the world will likely ever know.

This is actually an important time in history. I am living through a period of time that will be infamous in US and world history. One day someone will care what happened and try to understand.

BUSH: Communtes Libby Sentence

Remember when Bush said that he'd prosecute to the fullest extent anyone who outed Undercover CIA Agent Valarie Plame?

In case you forgot, here's the video:

Well, today will live in the annals of history as the day an American president told the citizens of the United States of America.... we can go fuck ourselves.

Do you know what Bush is? This is what Bush is...

Bush communted Scooter Libby's prison sentence. A pardon. And you know what? This is exactly what he plans on doing for Gonzales, Rumsfeld, Cheney and the whole lot of criminals who run this county. What a sin. What an awful, awful, awful, awful man.

That's why we've got to impeach him and Cheney now, so justice can be served.

What's happened to my country?
