Happy Thanksgiving:

Since I'll be heading up to my mom's house with the kids, I am hoping it doesn't turn into a "dog-gone" "cat-astrophy".

Love,

Thanksgiving Horror: Palin Slaughter Interview

I debated even posting the below video.

This blog, however, is called Shella Uncut. In the spirit of sometimes being inappropriate, I decided to share with you the wildly inappropriate 11/08 TV interview conducted with Alaska's infamous Governor Sarah Palin.

The back story is that the TV crew was present for the obligatory Thanksgiving "pardon" of a turkey otherwise having a date with the grim reaper. The shock and awe occurs after the event, when Palin is being further interviewed with turkeys being slaughtered in the background.

Check out about 1:50 into it...

Albert Einstein: E=MC² Finally Proven

There are only a few people who know this odd fact about me: I have a thing for Albert Einstein. Seriously. My friend Gayle can attest to this should I ever need to prove the truth of my statement in a court of law.

But, I digress.

I've chosen to post today the astounding fact that finally, finally goddamnit, E=MC² has been proven. Click here for the press release. Click here for the details.

Einstein himself explains...

Einstein may have been on the autism spectrum...

And this video is so whimsical I couldn't resist...

Funny: Spider Currency

In these tough economic times people's bill-paying (or money-saving) creativity emerges. And sometimes, those efforts can result in a pretty funny scenario.

Imagine that some off-kilter guy cannot pay one of this monthly bills, and is contacted by customer service. Then imagine what might transpire should he decide to submit a spider drawing, requesting it be accepted as payment in full for said monthly bill.

Well, it happened. And hilarity ensued..

Collective Consciousness: New Day, New World

Apparently I am not the only person who felt s/he woke to a new world on November 5th (see my post below on that date "The New Day").

Below is a video by musician and artist Will.I.Am entitled "It's A New Day".

Enjoy!

Paul Krugman: 2008 Nobel Prize Winner

For those of you who are not familiar with the Nobel Prize-winning economist Paul Krugman and want to learn about his credibility in the world check out this Wikipedia entry.

On November 5 2008 (the day following the election) Paul Krugman posted the following on his New York Times blog, entitled "The Monster Years":
"...for the past 14 years America’s political life has been largely dominated by, well, monsters. Monsters like Tom DeLay, who suggested that the shootings at Columbine happened because schools teach students the theory of evolution. Monsters like Karl Rove, who declared that liberals wanted to offer “therapy and understanding” to terrorists. Monsters like Dick Cheney, who saw 9/11 as an opportunity to start torturing people.

And in our national discourse, we pretended that these monsters were reasonable, respectable people. To point out that the monsters were, in fact, monsters, was “shrill.”"

I'd like to add it's my opinion that the national discourse to which Krugman refers was our media conglomerates, the worst of which is Rupert Murdoch's Fox/News Corp and the hateful right wing radio stations and hosts.

Obama called out Fox and its partisan programming and issue framing as a right wing propaganda machine during his campaign. Internal memos then leaked discussed their strategy if Obama was elected and they were locked out, no longer the darling of the party in power.

It is with great glee that I now see how the proverbial chickens may have come home to roost. Or, how Faux News Corpse and that heinous little troll Rupert Murdoch may have been hoist on their own petard.

Rupert Murdoch's News Corp cut its full-year forecast and posted a worse-than-expected 30 percent drop in quarterly profit because of falling TV advertising. Shares dived 12 percent. The international media conglomerate said display advertising at its Web holdings, including the MySpace social network, was beginning to weaken, and that it was instituting stringent cost-cutting measures company wide. "We're managing down headcount wherever appropriate,"

May they (please) go quietly into the night. It really would be the best thing for America.
